Ting-ting posted another music on youtube, and allow me to post her playing on this blog. I heard she listened to the song sang by Mika Nakashima for many times, and played it with her absolute pitch. Absolute pitch is quite similar to perfect pitch, except they have the ability to identify and recreate a musical note without the benefit of an external reference. Perfect pitch is referred to the ability to recognise and perfectly play the notes without reference to an external standard. Sometimes, playing some music based on the manuscript from the original composer will not always produce the best tone. The perception of music by individuals are different, so let says Mr. A like the music to be played in a more dynamic way whilst Mr. B prefer the same song to be played in a more classical way. It depends on the individual themselves. This is why i feel that those musicians who have absolute pitch are extremely talented people. Musicians with perfect pitch are also great since they can recognise the exact keys in music. They can play any music that you wish to listen based on your preference without references from books or manuscripts!
