Finally my sister is getting married (sounded that I am hoping for her to get married for a long time), lol. I would like confess once more incase my brother-in-law's family members are reading this post. Roy is an extremely nice person (I am not saying this because he is my brother-in-law). I have no problems in accepting him as my brother-in-law. Probably this is the first time experiencing a wedding within my very own family members, so got a little excited. Traditionally, wedding is a social event (or ceremony) to unite 2 families, and exchanging rings and having a wedding dinner as a symbol for marriage. I have been expecting that all the while. However, in reality, to me, wedding is more than just a dinner. It is very, hectic. Probably the weather in Malaysia has been very warm and I am still unused to it, as yet.

I am also very happy to have more relatives added on my msn list now.
We have been extremely hectic in the past few days, following the two couples around, looking for hotels for their wedding dinner. At first, they were planning to organize their wedding dinner on Saturday. However, most hotels were fully book. The supervisors in most hotels have suggested us to book their wedding dinner on Friday instead. According to them, friends and relatives can spend more time on Friday and Saturday for such ceremony since most people will not be available on days from Sun - Thursday due to work

My brother-in-law suggests to have a grand wedding dinner for my sister. Therefore, they start looking at hotels such as Summit, Armada, Esteen, etc, and perhaps looking at 5 star hotels such as the Grand Blue Wave. Overall, I only followed them to 2 places. The first place we went is the Grand Blue Wave hotel in Shah Alam, Malaysia.

I would rate the environment of the hotel as moderate. It looks more like a 4-star hotel to me. Probably I have been to better looking hotels and start making comparisons to the hotels, e.g. 1-world, Mandarin Oriental, Regents and Shangri-la. However, I would compliment on their customer service since its really brilliant.

We snapped as much pictures as we could, as if we have not seen a hotel in our life before, lol. Anyway, this is very important for people who have some plans to get married. I would strongly suggest you to start doing 'something', such as getting a date fixed for their wedding and wedding dinner or they will struggle like them. Getting everything done a year before their wedding is advisable since most chinese do not like to get married in year 2010 (year of a tiger). If you read the word in cantonese (tiger), it will not sound so good, lol.

From my theoretical point of view, even if the grooms family are willingly in paying around RM 1, 000 per table for their wedding dinner, the foods that this restaurant offer is still, well, moderate. Personally, I still prefer chinese foods so probably for such reason, I still think this 5-star hotel is not sufficiently "acceptable".

The supervisor brought us around the small and grand ball room. The small ballroom can host 25 tables for wedding dinner whilst 60 tables for the grand ballroom. They do not provide any projectors (some wedding dinners should have a projector, projecting the groom and bride's picture since they were young). To loan a projector for 4 hours, they will charge RM 800 :O lol.

Anyway, we went to the Tropicana clubhouse. It is their next option. The sky turned dark when we reached so I could not snap a lot of pictures. My grandpa suggest this place has a better looking view. Although it is just a clubhouse, to me, the most important factor is to make it very convenient for all friends and relatives. I also heard the foods are quite delicious.

Renting a ballroom for wedding dinner is extremely difficult. We came from a traditional chinese family, and therefore, the date of marriage is of important due superstition. Chinese believes that the date of marriage will bring the groom and bride prosperity and happiness. Traditionally, it represents the symbol for double happiness. Worstly, for olden chinese, if the date is not fixed appopriately (depending on their time of birth), it may lead to the perpetuate and the survival of the family. Sounds scary isn't it? But even if you get a nice date fixed, you might not get that particular date to book a ballroom in that hotel. Troublesome :(

My aunt's friend has been telling her that this aunty is very good at matching couple's date and time for ther wedding. She uses her fingers to calculate the exact date based on some chinese books and the couples time of birth. Therefore, we went to this lady and have spend 3 hours with her since she taught us every step on the wedding day. Tired, but I have finally learned something new for my future marriage :) I just realized that a chinese marriage would have so many procedures. Troublesome... troublesome...

We went back to the clubhouse a day later. We went there with a group of people, my sister and brother-in-law, his dad and my family members. There, they have booked the wedding ballroom for few days (there were few date chosen) for approximately 30 tables (from my observation, the number of tables will increase from time to time lol). Then, my brother-in-law brought us to his new home.

The main reason for taking the 4 pictures in the above is to show one of my best friend (she is my relative now). Her name is Deidere. We know each other from a friend since year 2000. I just graduated from my high school at that time (after SPM exams). Surprisingly, 10 years later (2009), I found out that she is my brother-in-law's sister, LOL. So she is my relative now. What a small world. I could not believe the last time I met her is before leaving to the UK for studies in year 2000, and the next meeting is in my sister's wedding, lol. Anyway, her brother told me she has not seen the house when construted. So, these pics were taken specifically for her to see :)
