Asthmatic attack can be an extremely serious illness, mainly characterised by spasms in the airway in our lungs. This impedes the exhalation of air and caused breathing difficulties and other relevant lung-related diseases such as coughing, wheezing, tightness in the chest. The main reason is that the spasms are caused by chronic or excessive inflammation, usually by sensitivity of the air flow to the outside stimuli such as cold air, pollution and other factors caused by pollens, chemicals, smokes produced by cigarette, cars, factories etc. However, many other research indicated that other major factors that may trigger asthma is stress, exercise, laughing and expiratory infections. Therefore, try not to over-stress yourself if you are originally suffering from the asthmatic illness.

Since he asthma allergy (or shortness of breath) is an extremely serious allergy that may bring death to the person if not handle carefully, there are plenty of on-going medical research conducted, mainly to diagnose its underlyning cause and cure. According to some research articles, the asthmatic has a genetic component. This means that one parents (i.e only daddy or mummy) who has the asthmatic may be brought down to their children, but only with a 33.33% chance. The chances will rise to 70% if both parents have this allergy. This chronic inflammatory disease usually deals with the shortage of breath because it was characterised by some recurring symptoms that deals with our bronchospasm (the lung area). There were evidences stating clearly that more females die of asthma than males. Womens account for nearly 65% of the asthma's death toll. So, this is an extremely serious allergy that you may wish to avoid from suffering.

Actually what triggers asthma? The introduction of this post indicated that environment, stress (from job pressure; e.g. sportsmen) may be the main factor that triggers the asthmatic attack. It is true that heavy exercises such as mountain climbing will trigger asthma. However, some articles from the newspaper has proven that some people with asthma have automatically cured the illness by doing heavy exercises such as swimming. Swimming was believed to be an extremely important exercise that may broaden our lung and airway in some ways. Some people also managed to cure asthma by playing on an air-scottish pipe (a musical instrument). They believed that practicing this musical instrument will widen our lung so we could breath better.

There at at least 85 per cent of the Malaysian citizens who were born with asthma. Because the is no cure for asthma, it has ranked the third of hospitalization children over the world. Traditionally, cooling foods should be avoided. You may wish to read more about cooling foods by clicking HERE. Foods such as ice and courgette should be listed as the number one in list of foods to avoid. Sometimes, severe stress may narrow down the airway in our body and that will trigger asthma attack. So, try avoid stress. Please read more about stress reliever and remedies by clicking HERE. Few research indicated that smoking may help curing the patient, however, there are many more research papers suggested that smoking will impair the efficacy of our lungs by declining the lung from functioning for patients with chronic asthma. So, please stay away from cigarette and its smokes. Please click HERE if you wish to study the original full-version of the journal. Try avoid pollen, dust, animal air and dust mites by vaccuming regularly and use anti-allergenic beeding. Try replace carpets with ceramic, stone and other hardwood floors. Try avoid consuming nuts, particularly for children with asthma.

Try avoid dairy products since they are famous for the formation of musuc. Other sources of mucus-formation includes wheat, soya, chocolate, sugar and eggs. So try avoid those products. High salt intake is linked to respiratory-tract disorder. Respiratory-tract disorder refers to asthmatic diseases, i.e. lung diseases, breathing disorders, nose and throat problems. Salt usually contain in all processed and packaged foods so avoid them.

The asthmatic symptom could be relieve through diet. Thus, healthy diet is necessary. When dealing with healthy diet, the first thing that comes to our mind is fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are extremely important sources for dieting because they are high in potassium which counteracts with sodium (i.e. salt). They are also the best source of vitamin C which are extremely important for inflammation. Consuming oily fish is also important to help our body to fight againsts inflamed asthmatic. Oily fish includes salmon, sardine, mackerel and trout. Please also consume garlic and red onion. These sources contain quercetin. Quercetin comes from an exerting powerful antioxidant source known as the flavanoid. Flavanoid is a powerful antioxidant source that can block the formation of cancer cells in our body, and usually found in a wide range of foods such as citrus, soy products (i.e. tofu, soy bean), apples and green tea. Quercetin is an anti-inflammatory source, mainly used therapeutically to ease age related inflammatory conditions and asthmatic.

Foods containing selenium is also important for asthmatic. several studies relate selenium consumption with the protection from asthma and inflammatory effect. Selenium often synergy with vitamin E, acting similarly like antioxidant, needed for proper immune system and heart functioning. It also protect the membrane cells in our body. Anyway, consuming foods that contained selenium would help preventing cellular damages from free radicals. Foods that contain selenium includes chicken, prawn, fish, oysters etc. Our body also need magnesium to fight againsts asthmatic. Green leafy vegetables are definitely good sources of magnesium. The magnesium mineral may prevent the constriction of airways in the lung by promoting relaxation in the muscles in the lung system.
Caption: peppermint, a herb that helps to relief asthma attack
There are some herbs recommended by herbalist, that could be used to strengthen our lungs. For example, the astragalus. Other good herbs include peppermint and liquorice. Herbalist suggest us to consume mullein tea. It can help to expel excess mucus in our body and contribute in easier-breathing. Vitamin such as B6 and B12 (I personally still recommend consuming vitamin B complex) may help to reduce stress and the asthmatic symptoms. Consume vitamin C sources (i.e. oranges, kiwi, goji berries etc.) for anti-allergenic and anti-inflammatory effect

Other cure for asthma includes drug intake. Albuterol, or traditionally known as the inhaler, is a special drug used to reduce asthma attack. The consumption of this drug for asthmaticulus (only asthma) is extremely safe, unless you overdose it. The normal intake of one whole inhaler for a normal asthmatic patient is one month. So, please consult your GP if you notice the intake increases. Practising yoga is great to improve our breathing. Swimming in the sea or lake is also good for our lungs. However, try staying away from chlorinated pools. Participate in singing classes as singing is a great exercise.
